40 Years of Brotherhood, Service, and Leadership: Pi Beta Celebrates Anniversary at Binghamton University’s Homecoming Weekend
Binghamton University witnessed a spectacular celebration as the Pi Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. marked over 42 years of Alpha at Binghamton and the 40th anniversary of the chapter chartering. The milestone event brought together chapter Brothers and their families for a series of memorable moments of fraternal bonds, service, celebration, and planning for another successful 40 years and beyond of Pi Beta.
Chapter Welcome Event: Reunion & Introductions
The festivities commenced with the Chapter Welcome Event, where Brothers had the opportunity to reunite and for some Brothers to meet for the very first time. The event struck a perfect balance between nostalgia and the excitement of being together again. Brothers shared laughter, stories, and the genuine warmth of brotherhood that has endured for over four decades.
Community Service: Mentorship & Impact
In the spirit of Alpha Phi Alpha's commitment to service, the Pi Beta Chapter organized a community service event with the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton for an afternoon of one-on-one mentorship and speed networking. Chapter Brothers embraced the chance to give back to the local community, making a positive impact through meaningful engagement with Binghamton’s youth.
Brothers Only Gathering: Reflecting on the Past & Planning for the Future
Generations of Brothers initiated into Pi Beta from the ‘80s, ‘90s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s came together for the highlight of the weekend. Activities included a special tribute to the chapter’s charter members, the premiere of the Pi Beta Documentary, a collaborative chapter planning session, and an alumni fundraiser to ensure the continued growth and prosperity of the chapter. The documentary received raving reviews and included exclusive interviews with Brothers from across the lineage, history of Pi Beta’s impact in Binghamton and beyond, and a heartfelt memorialization of Bro. Danny Jones (Fall ‘82), Bro. Michael D. Hunt (Spring ‘86), and Bro. Phillip Robinson (Spring ‘87) who have transitioned into Omega Chapter.
Pi Beta Takeover: Campus Celebration, After Party, & Farewell Brunch
The weekend continued with a vibrant tailgate event, featuring music, delicious food, and the fellowship of chapter Brothers, Alphas from across the state, families, and Binghamton alumni. Brothers from past and present strolled and brought the energy for all to see. Pi Beta once again showed Bing who runs the yard! Alumni Brothers hosted a night of celebration – bringing out alum for great music, drinks, and dancing all night. The Pi Beta 40th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend came to a close with a Farewell Brunch to reminisce about how college days swiftly pass and look forward to a lifetime of brotherhood.
